I will say to save your data with for example Ghost, since All will be erase for re-partionning. Kexts may Also Work for no Retail Version Like Kalyway or iDeneb, use KextHelper to install Them. I have got a Dell Latitude E6400 but since E6500 are pretty the same than E6400, it may work. Just Tell me if I am not Clear or I say something wrong.
